What Cerebus Statue? A Last Signing?

Ludovic Leleu is making great progress on the Cerebus statue that the Pigts worship, and which Cerebus ends up smashing in disgust. He's even made it in pieces so it will be easier to smash.
Below are the torches that will be on the walls and, of course, have flames on them.

And also, we must make a special mention of a pivotal moment in Cerebus history: Dave Sim, Cerebus creator, has his last ever comicbook signing September 24th. So I suggest you all carpool up there and attend. For more details on all the goodies and the complete schedule go here.

and of course there are new webcomix on our site as it is Wednesday.

What Iraq?

Brian Lee Moore flew in just to do some voices for our Cerebus Film. He'd only been home for a couple of months from 2 tours in Iraq. It's a great honor, and we thank him for all he's done. And who better to do the voices of the soldiers in our film? He's a great talent and made each character pop, he also made a film himself that featured artwork supplied by Cerebus creator, Dave Sim.
Above I randomly chose some samples of what we recorded, will figure out which ones to use on further listening.
Recording done by our film's Sound Editor, Jimmy McGivern, at his recording studio:
Also, Ludovic Leleu is now working on the Pigt hall featuring the Aardvark/Cerebus statue as seen below.

What Cloth?

We did hair in our last post and now on to cloth. Hair and Cloth is hard:)

When I say "we" I mean actually "I" as I did some in the past ie the cloth in the serpent fight scene seen here, and wanted to do more here. So that leaves less time for Blogging (or "zapping" as we like to call it here:)).
We also have come across rough spots, problems in other areas of our scenes...let's just say we're "finetuning" if you will, as we assemble all our pieces for a polished final render.
Sara Khon joined us as a godsend. (via Brian Buchmann actually , same thing:))And we couldn't be more grateful. She's binding the Necross rigg (by Erik Frederick) to the new Necross model by Brian. And all the animation will be preserved. This was the idea all along, only this was nowhere near as doable as we thought. So she's really getting the project out of a hole. My hero.
and an additional Necross animator has joined us: Jeff Nash.
Will we finish our polished trailer this summer as hoped...well, first I googled to make sure it's still summer, and according to wiki answers we have till September 22nd. So there still time!

And just as we racing the clock to finish a film trailer, Sim comes up with a great idea for a video game! A Cerebus video game! A game he's plotted and come up with the concept for. Doing the film we have very little input from him, so to do a game that would be less an adaptation, but a genuine original...that is too cool. We'll make a "viewing demo" at first...since the game is based on the first issue much like our film: we can pretty much use what we have (he even mentioned stuff like the Wizard's Crystal Ball, which was our film concoction...hey, nice to see our additions accepted and become part of the Cerebus lore by the creator himself:)) and just add some cool video game stats etc in the corners...and instead of explaining we'll soon reveal the revolutionary new game playing concept! Yes, it's not merely that it's a Cerebus video game, but the gameplay itself has never been done before!! More on this developement later. Just snuck it in here early for those who actually read this. lol

What Sim doing the voice of Cerebus?

Dave Sim had a Cerebus TV Facebook-a-thon going recently where he'd do teleplays, one with Cerebus that we even added some animation to...and I have to say John Di Crosta, who is doing the voice for the Cerebus Film is practically identical. Very cool.

Here are the Dave Sim CerebusTV Facebook-a-thon teleplays:

Dave performs Jaka's Story (Page 242: Oscar Wilde and Lord Julius)

And last but not least below is historic moment where Dave Sim does a Cerebus, Lord Julius etc teleplay with animation added to it (probably the closest we'll get to Dave Sim doing voice-over for an animated Cerebus:))

Wish we could have done more, but it was on short notice. Speaking of time we are gearing up on our polished trailer for this summer...late summer:)
Below is some progress -animation by Jason Minos:

We're still working on the hair, clothing and facial details.

Also, look for new webcomics on our website www.cerebus3d.com, updated every Wednesday! and speaking of webcomics: Cerebus, drawn and written by Dave Sim himself, made a guest appearance in www.weirdcrimetheater.com

What Summer Hiatus?

Cerebus TV is on summer hiatus, but will return shortly. I know Dave Fisher has edited several episodes so several are in the can.
Dave Sim even has a funny voice announcements for upcoming season two on the CTV website. And also an additional one here.
We are still shooting for a polished trailer/teaser/short of the Cerebus Film this summer. Above is one of the early shots of animated Cerebus speaking for the first time -features several mistakes as we are still playing with the rendering, lighting, staging and animation.

Below is Brian Buchmann's 3d model of a great "town lady". It's now finished for those who have been following the progress. Her and Trotu make quite a duo.

What Necross Interior Lair?

Above is the complete Necross Interior Lair by Ludovic Leleu. And with that most of our main pieces are done for our Necross segment that we hope to have complete this summer to showcase our Cerebus Feature -in addition to our Interior Necross Lair, we've got our: exterior shot, voices, main models, riggs, explosions and smoke and almost enough animation. We just might pull this off:) So right now a lot of time will go into assembling it all together, binding the models to their animated riggs and lighting, staging, camera positioning, rendering etc

What Merchant?

Top we see one of the main Merchants in the town. And like all the merchants in the "merchant town" he is wearing a "merchant vest", which Cerebus trades his helmet for to fit in which fractures his destiny. There's some kinda message in there about being true to yourself hmmm? Of course, Cerebus would then have become a tyrant so it's just as well.:)
Above we see a younger slacker of the town, though he'll still wear a vest if a bit more ragged:)
This two models are unfortunately to be Max Uness' last models for the Cerebus Film as he's moving on. It was great having him on board and hope we can work together more in the future. We are justabout out of main characters at this point.
Below we see more smoke created by Ajiesh Thuvanoor to compliment the explosion he did in this Production Blog's previous post
He made the smoke easily tweakable, so I played around with additional atmospheric uses for it.

The background is a new version of Necross' Lair by Ludovis Leleu, reworking his previous one. His computer crashed so all that's left of it is this jpeg. We should have Necross Lair #3, or is that #4?, in our next post. Judging from his previous versions it should be amazing.
