What Pond? What TV?

Bassin for the pond in the Wizard's courtyard by Ludo Ludovic.
The Wizard's courtyard is where Cerebus fights the Shadow Beast in issue #1.
Below Ludo has done a preliminary mock-up for the Courtyard:
and he's also laid out how the Wizard's Castle and Courtyard are situated in relation to one another and the rest of the city, and a suggested path of entry for Cerebus and his two Brtohers-in-crime when they conduct their heist of the Wizard's Flamejewel:

Also, all this weekend on Cerebus TV:

Another "Quick Cuts" episode! Quick looks at: CEREBUS ARCHIVE, now coming to an end of it's 2nd year, a revolution in comics publishing called FDC? What is it and how do do you get it? Why is the CEREBUS ARCHIVE #11 cover in pieces? The Seriously-Dissociated Doug Mackenzie of Earth-Two flies solo on a "beauty use" for the CEREBUS TV coffee mug. Back by popular demand: Part 2 of "Apology to Brian Bolland" this time with hard visual evidence from the late WIZARD magazine. And update on the Church & State Dream Wall in Michigan, the most elaborate Cerebus Art Commission Ever! The next few pages of "The Last Day of Alex Raymond" -- all this and NEMISES artist McNiven gets his Supermobile, courtesy of Eric Hoffman, by way of Dave Sim. And the world's shortest Frank Cho interview.

What Transfer #6. What last Necross scene in progress?

6th Necross animation transfer by Nick Wolensky. He transferred animation from our old base model/rig to a new unrigged detailed model. Something we thought when we started out would be an easy thing to accomplish, but Nick succeeded where many riggers before had tried -and really got us out of a hole. Truly a God among men!:)
The above is our very last Necross animation, and the scene still needs tweaking -but now tweaking with the actual detailed intended model thanks to Nick.

Speaking of rough renders played around with the above.

What Rig! Despuess! What Transfer! What Meeting!

Wizard rig complete by Ken Kanipe
5th Necross animation transfer by Nick Wolensky. Nick is so fast he's catching up with the animators, on this one the animation isn't done yet. The animator will now continue animating with the new transferred file.

Soon all the Necross files will be transferred and then all that remains to be transferred is the Despuess animations -for that we have a Despuess model underway by Brian Buchmann (who also modeled Necross, The Wizard as seen at the top of our blog post today, and Cerebus below).

We also have some new animation underway by Marta Belda. This is the scene where Cerebus meets his "Brothers-in-crime" as seen below:

Animation Transfer (from animated rigged base model to unrigged, none-animated detailed model) by Nick Wolensky

What Code? Transfer!...and what is Cerebus supposed to do?

Nick Wolensky has steamlined the transferring of animation (from a rigged base model to an unrigged detailed model) with code he's written -so the process is going fast, so fast I can't keep up with the rendering and compositing...would have liked to have mixed up some close-ups and wideshots and various angles. Anyway, below we have his stellar work, and I apologize for hasty renders/composites/edits/static camera placement:)

What spells? What Transfer?

Cerebus Animation (page 22 of issue #1) by Renier Van Burick.
Cerebus' character wasn't fully fleshed out in that first issue, so we've added some character to him to make him more like the Cerebus we got to know in the rest of the comicbook series.

"Animation from base model/rigg to deatiled unrigged Necross model" transfer in process of getting done by Nick Wolensky

What Props!?

Progress on well for City Environment by Steven Shearing

Door for city environment by Evan FireHeart
evanfireheart@gmail.com

speaking of props: all of our props for Cerebus are now pretty much done as of yesterday. Now playing around with placements of the props on Cerebus.
To explain why there are two versions: the working title of the film is "Cerebus - Tale of a Fractured Destiny". This fracturing happens when Cerebus, in order to fit in, trades his helmet for a "merchant vest" and paints his medallions with the "Merchant Guild Symbols". Had he not done so he would have become "the chosen one" and become "brute force triumphant". Luckily for all his destiny did get fractured:)
This story can be found in the comic series -if you read: issues #1, #4, #5 and #13 -though the important revelation in #196.

Tonight and all weekend: Dave Sim/CEREBUS TV 7 January 2011

EPISODE 44: A "behind the scenes" look at the January issue of glamourpuss, No.17 -- "The Wit & Wisdom of JFK" (hey, I had to come up with SOMETHING with gp up on charges as an accessory to cocaine trafficking) and my speculations on what Alex Raymond and Stan Drake might have been discussing on the fatal day of 6 September 1956.
Bonus! It all starts with a Cerebus head sketch request from Jesse Herndon in Massachussetts and ends up with the C-Minus Kid "rocking out" to the 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' theme song. Only on CEREBUS TV.

week of 7 January to 14 January. premiere showing 7 January at 10 pm ET

What Pigt Destruction!? What Rigging Wizardry!?

Animation progress by Krysta Swales.
I, Oliver Simonsen, did a rough render and edit. Will get more finesse and get lighting on it, too:) Below is how it originally appeared:

unlike the comic, we have the Wizard doing the narration, speaking of: that's the rigging progress on him below (and no the actor, Stephen Mendel is not actually English -though Richard Bazley, who was superving animator on "The Iron Giant" among others and English thought he was -a real testament to his talent)

The Brothers are from Cerebus issue #1, though there we're not privy to what is discussed exactly in this scene. Nor are the Brothers given any personality in that legendary first issue, so unlike most of the Cerebus comics -issue #1 gives us lots of leeway to expand upon.

Of course, shortly before the above scene this scene below takes place.

What Soldiers!?

soldier #2

Soldier #3
Both based on Soldier #1 modeled by Akanksha Poddar, in fact it is the same model. Brian Buchmann added variations so we'd have multiples, yet still remain uniform in appearance -variances such as adjustments to the face, neck arms, increased shoulder and helmet size. Below is the main scene the soldiers appear in.
