What Rendering! What Lip Sync! What Wizard Jewel and Minotaur!

In issue #1 the lonely Wizard has an arsenal of demons, skeletons and serpents -and yes we're throwing in a Minotaur for good measure. Everything short of a singing tea cup:) The minotaur doesn't actually do battle in the film or anything -just part of the general Wizard atmosphere.

Cerebus lip sync animation progress Manas Mishra

We now are starting to have a lot of animation done and about time we decide in what style we want to render it. Along with that comes which renderer to use. Here Vijay R who textured and rendered this scene using VRay in a previous post of ours, now playing around with Mental Ray which we're leaning towards. Still in progress. On our Facebook Film page this latest posting has inspired enthusiastic discussion on the differences of the two and which direction to go in. This process is all part of "Look Development", which will be the overall look we decide on for the film, which Vinay is working on. Another consideration is also it's quite common for scenes to have numerous different elements be rendered with different apps and then composited together. So there are a lot of different avenues and it will be exciting to see. Environment modeled by Steven Shearing.

And below is further progress on the Wizard's Serpent. The Serpent is modeled by Brian Buchmann, and here we have added hi rez details by John Chen for close ups. In the end the scales (as seen in yesterday's post) will be combined and added everywhere except for the underside as seen in progress here. We were thinking of having more than one model, one of the serpent for wide shots and then various tentacles etc for close-ups, but John is luckily making it all-in-one.

Below is the finished Flame Jewel that belongs to the Wizard and which Cerebus and his two "brother-in-crime" attempt to steal (issue #1)...it's very much the catalyst of our heist film. Our 'Maltese Falcon", what dreams are made of -if you will. Modeled by Reginald Pierre

My apologies to the modeler for the rough render:)
